An interview with Alexandru Corsaca
A: Who is behind WERISTdICHTER?
I have organized ContextCocktail: WERISTdICHTER? during the Roundgang from the Academy of Arts Vienna 2017, together with Annemarie Arzberger, who was responsible for the stage design. Last year I worked mainly with Sarah Hauber who is responsible for photography and videos.
A: What are your objectives and motivations?
The fusion between literature, drag art, contemporary performance art and music or live concert is important to me, also the chance to bring different positions and people together. It's about listening to each other, sharing, not condemning but connecting in solidarity with each other no matter how different you are. WERISTdICHTER? is a club of outsiders.
A: Describe your latest project
“WERISTdICHTER in der Quärantene?" was born on March 12th. I got the cancellation for the rest of my upcoming theatre performances and my disappointment was huge. It was a matter of concern to me so I asked artists to make a video, they are looking forward to a date and thus forget for a short time the situation they are in, in fact that we all are in. Solidarity and visibility. Of course video is something completely different from performance art. But it is also a new chapter for me and a time in which I learn and develop myself artistically.
