Who is Studio Terrible?

Studio terrible is a one person company. I am very passionate about aesthetics, details and flowing materials. I am working on the patterns myself, to make sure they have the whised fit, I search for the right materials and then it’s going to be produced by some very lovely ladies at „Volkshilfeschneiderei“ here in Vienna. Working local makes it much easier for me to overlook the production, or to be there if needed. All fabrics are either certified or deadstock materials. Natural fabrics usually have a better quality, last longer and have the ability to keep the body warm or cool. Therefore I prefer to work with them, even if they´re not vegan, but it’s important to know how animals are treated, as well as how the material was treated afterwards. At the moment I only work on made- to order system, meaning the fabrics get ordered as soon as an order comes in. Sustainability became a huge part of my life in the past years, so it only made sense that this brand would be as well.

What are your goals and motivations?

My motivation is and has always been beauty. Beautiful things just make me happy and being dressed beautifully makes me feel empowered. I’d like to give that feeling to others as well. Also making things yourself, seeing something coming to life step by step until it’s finished is the most rewarding to me. I hope that I can have a concept store in the future with my own designs and selected conscious brands accessories and shoes that would look nicely to my designs.

Tell us more about TERRIBLE Magazine?

The magazine grew from my wish to do more styling and photoshoots, but obviously it was very important to me not to use fast fashion items. That’s why I asked my friend and photographer Vrinda Jelinek if she was in for the idea to start our own Thing.. and then we just started it. We now give those many beautiful and inspiring brands the platform they deserve and it’s a lot of fun. Consumers can get to know more small brands and they can be sure they can buy from all those without guilt. Two Friends of mine are involved, Noemie does Translation an Angie does our Beautiful layout and everyone has the space to get creative. Vrinda and I are a pretty good team, we both have a quite similar idea of aesthetics and get along very well.

How are you dealing with the current isolation situation?

For both, the brand and the magazine it means to cut back. The FW 20 collection was meant to be in production right now and no orders can be taken at the moment, as the dyer and the sewing workshop are closed. For the magazine it means, we cancelled on the summer issue and we’ll hopefully make an even thicker winteredition. Other than those things I am very fine in isolation. I have lots of sewing projects, I can work on patterns, bake, do yoga and relearn french, or read books. I haven’t been bored for a minute yet. I am also super thankful to not live alone at the moment, I guess that keeps me sane and makes everything seem more normal.
