Orientations for Transitioning Times

Workshop by Adriana Knouf

We live in transitioning times. We choose to transition our bodies; we are forced to transition due to climate change; we experience transition through aging; we demand a transition to new forms of being. To do this necessitates preparation, a careful attunement to dynamics otherwise obscured by grossly accumulative practices. We may find ourselves lost in these moments, and thus we need new tools, techniques, practices, protocols, guides, and/or instructions for orientation, for finding direction when we feel lost. In this workshop, through explorations of my own practice, examples from the future/past/present, and hands-on visual/sonic/tactile exercises, we will begin to develop the means for orienting ourselves in these transitioning times.

Living in transitioning times, in this workshop you will develop techniques/protocols/guides for orientation for when we feel lost.

REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED** send us an email to sayhi@improperwalls.com to reserve your place as we have limited capacity.

Adriana Knouf

Adriana Knouf, PhD (NL/US), explores the entanglement of biological, technological, and cosmic entities. Knouf’s work, which has been displayed globally and aboard the International Space Station, delves into the fluid intersections between human, non-human, and cosmic life. As the Founding Facilitator of tranxxenolab, Knouf promotes the merging of trans and xeno entities, challenging the boundaries of identity and existence. Her exploration of time, matter, and the cosmos positions her work as central to the exhibition’s theme of dissolving fixed categories.
