Rob Perez aka Deadbeat Hero is an American artist who has recently called Vienna home. His Sweatermen characters made their first appearance back in 2012 and served as a type of social commentary on the smartphone culture. Not to shame but rather to highlight and embrace our obsession with social media. He continued to develop these characters that seem extremely comfortable and warm, covered up in colourful sweaters and ski masks, as they scroll through various social media apps. In 2013 DBH unveiled his Sweatermen collection. His well-received solo show titled “The Sweatermen” was viewed at the Silkworm Gallery in San Antonio, Texas.
This April Sweatermen characters make a come back at Improper Walls in Deadbeat Hero's solo show - #wearesweatmen.
