As part of the group exhibition „Shame Shouldn’t be a Symptom” I would like to lift the veil of secrecy and reveal what you can expect – and be part of!

Since 2019, I have been working on the project "Kanye West doesn’t know what it’s like," a part of which you will see on May 5th.

“Kanye West…” is the photography project about people living with mental disorders. So far, the project has involved people with depression, borderline disorder, anxiety disorder, and bipolar disorder. The diagnosis details are only for my information, none of the people in the project are labeled and never will be.

Each person I photograph is tasked with writing a letter to another – fictional person with the same diagnosis. It can be a text, a drawing, a poem or any other form by which they can convey their thoughts, feelings or experiences to another person. I leave it completely free, whether it will be a sincere confession of a struggle or a text that gives hope. Or none of these things.

Who am I looking for? People who are diagnosed with mental disorders and are ready to take part in the project. To show themselves to the world, because shame shouldn't be a symptom. So far, the project has been limited only to young women living in Warsaw but I will gladly hear from people of different age, gender and nationality.

Who am I? I finished my master's degree in psychology and I have participated in voluntary work and internships in various mental health facilities for many years.

Despite the pandemic uncertainties, hopefully, we will meet soon.
