IMPROPER DOSE NO. 3
Support, support, support
- Elisabeth Hinkel (Improper Walls Curator)
That hole in your soul
That you just wish to be whole?
Oh darlings, we know...
We’ve searched high and low
For the exact dose you need
Follow us, you’ll see…
Welcome to the 3rd edition of the Improper Dose!
This time, we focus mainly on support as we feel the drain and loss of energy from isolation.
How did we come up with this week’s topics? We want to share what personally interests us. Our team members work in a wide range of fields.
Elizabeth Spouse works at WAVE (Women Against Violence Europe) - a feminist network promoting human rights of women and children - so it comes naturally that she is interested in all related topics. But she is also wildly interested in music and supports her friends wholeheartedly. So find an introduction to the work of Changes For Women, an organization that focuses on providing information on abortions in Austria, a portrait of Viennese Fashion Designer Norah Joskowitz, an interview with musician Ines Kolleritsch and a bunch of hellish important petitions you can sign from your couch.
Kata Anna Tüz is not only a fantastic artist herself, but plays an active part in her community. She shares with us one of the art projects that will be realized in the framework of Question Me & Answer titled Flatten Project by artists Annika Eschmann and Daniel Castells, an interview with filmmaker/artist/activist Martina Trepczyk who shares her thoughts on Climate Change in Corona Times, and lets Nicola von Leffern share anecdotes from her work as a director as well as her favourite movies.
As was introduced in the first Improper Dose you might enjoy my interview with Contemporary Matters, a platform by students of the Art History Department of the University of Vienna, that aims at providing a stage for critical thinking in the contemporary art historical discourses.
Last but not least, enjoy our Improper Playlist with artists from our community and some of our basic go-to songs from the past years!
Like, share and enjoy!
P.S.:
Improper Walls is living off a fragile system of donations and funding, both of which have become even more uncertain because we can’t host public events due to COVID-19 measurements. Please consider supporting us, so we can continue to support others.
