What We Keep Between Us
Poetry Workshop + Open Mic with Tayla Myree
Poetry Workshop : 4:00-6:30 PM
Open Mic: 7:30-10:00 PM
Join us for What We Keep Between Us, an evening of writing, sharing, and collective tenderness led by poet and multidisciplinary artist Tayla Myree (they/she). Known for their exploration of identity, queerness, liberation, and self-making, Tayla brings their experience as both an artist and facilitator to this intimate gathering held in context of Brooklyn J. Pakathi’s exhibition Closer Still.
Centered around the themes of vulnerability, closeness, and emotional intimacy, this Poetry Workshop invites participants to reflect on the spaces between us—what we hold, what we hide, and what we choose to offer.
After the workshop, the space will be open to the wider community for an Open Mic Night, welcoming poets, singers, artists, performers, and anyone who feels called to share a piece of themselves.
Tayla Myree (they/she) is a multi-disciplinary artist, poet, and historian based in Vienna, Austria. Their work deals with the politics of memory and identity primarily in relation to Blackness as well as other marginalized identities. They explore these topics through the mediums of film, photography, prose, and sound. Tayla currently holds a Masters Degree in Comparative History from Central European University and is currently a part of the Video and Video Installation Studio at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna.
