OPEN CALL: Hast du Lust?

Open Call - Hast du Lust?

Group Exhibition
at Improper Walls

Open Call for artists of all fields.

Submission deadline: April 18, 2022
Selected artists will be informed by: May 5, 2022
Exhibition opening: May 25, 2022
Exhibition duration: May 25 - June 24, 2022

After speaking about the general stigma surrounding mental health issues, for this year's Mental Health Awareness Month, we want to use this group exhibition and related series of events to discuss the role of mental health within the context of sexual pleasure.

Art proved to be an essential tool to draw attention to social and environmental issues throughout history. With the persevering stigma surrounding mental health and lack of sex education, we need every opportunity to open up a discussion on these topics, particularly their interconnectedness. The character of these issues is deeply personal and varies from person to person, which is also why the open call has no limitation in the chosen medium. We strongly encourage people from marginalized groups who are disproportionately hurt by the status quo to apply. We will prioritize your stories during the selection process, including BIPOC, people from working-class backgrounds, women, and LGBTQI+ people.

Our intention is to give voice to those who encountered difficulties addressing their issues and concerns in therapy or have been re-directed to a sexual therapist instead. We invite artists to share their stories and commentaries through this Open Call, whether their sex lives are negatively affected by unrelated mental health problems or the mental health issues are caused by their sexual experiences.

The main question we are asking is: What prevents you from experiencing pleasure?
