Hui Ye (CN) is a media and sound artist based in Vienna.
Her works span different media such as short film, video and sound installation, composition and live sound performance. In her practice of music and sound performance, computer-generated sounds and noises that occurred, and reconstructed by mathematical odds and/or failures of programming have often become the input material.
In her recent projects, Ye starts the research on socio-political aspects of sound and music culture in order to reflect the diverse correlations between sound, the individual auditory perception and certain political events in history.
Ye’s works have been presented internationally, e.g. at Kunsthalle Wien, Künstlerhaus Wien, Kunstraum Niederösterreich (Vienna, Austria); Ohrenhoch Sound Gallery (Berlin, Germany); WRO Media Arts Biennial 2019, 2021 (Wroclaw, Poland) and Times Museum (Guangzhou, China). Her compositions and sound pieces were released on diverse labels such as Syrphe, playreclabel and Col legno.
