ɴᴏᴍᴀᴅɪᴄ ᴅʀᴀᴡɪɴɢꜱ, a solo show by aspiring Lithuanian artist Akvile Magicdust, is inspired by her travels and pictures discovered while traveling.
The artist creates flags which reflect the very special and precious world that we live in, not representing any country in particular. It doesn’t matter if we are on a beach in San Francisco or in a small shed in the middle of the Lithuanian forest, all of our concerns and joys are similar; the daily taste of coffee is similar, and everything is interconnected into a single internet node.
With her paintings and textile artworks, Akvile wants to promote playfulness, positivity, and humor.
By mixing naivety and the absurd, she draws bats that can skateboard, as well as aliens, tigers, and palm trees. The artist thinks that these objects are fun, playful and it’s a reminder not to be too serious. Through the drawings, Akvile Magicdust is looking for the essence of true and simple things, joy and wildness.

Akvile Magicdust (Akvilė Misevičiūtė) studied at the Vilnius Academy of Fine Arts and continued her education at the LUCA School of Arts in Brussels, from which she obtained a master’s degree.
Akvile lives in Vilnius, where she is sharing a studio with other creatives and works as a freelance illustrator. Akvilė describes her work as a reflection of restrained Northern European mood with shades of tropical colours. The laconic narratives are conveyed in a painterly, primitivistic manner, often featuring urban landscapes inhabited by exotic fauna.
Her work is influenced by skateboarding, graffiti and fanzines culture.
She has held solo exhibitions in her native Lithuania and in Belgium, Spain, the United States, and has participated in many group shows in various countries around the world. “Nomadic drawings” is her first solo show in Austria.
Besides painting, she also creates comics “Lucy the confused girl” which were published in Vice magazine and later as a book “Tropical wildchilds”.
